A Phoolz’ Match
by +Cheese+

I haven't put up a new article in a week! OMG! I've been really, really, busy. In fact, I just had to quit typing for awhile to answer the phone and guess what?! Another client! Geez, they just seem to be knocking the door down to come and see me... which brings us to a Catch 22. The more clients i get, the more moeny I make, whcih means the more computer stuff I can buy so I can play more games...but i need to work, so I have less time to actually play...can't one ever win at life? I want to be rich NOW!

Alright. I do intend, though, to continue writing in this space, so even though it may be a few days between updates, keep looking for me here. Because I might actually have something interesting to say!

Having said that, on to other things...

I'm going to talk about cheating for a minute or so.

Can you believe that Volition left this wonderful multiplayer game so open that hackers can even get (easily) around their new "anti-cheat" patch? Of course, an even better question to ask might be, can you believe that there are people out there who are so insecure about themselves and their abilities that they have to cheat?

What a dilemma. On the one hand we have a company with a beautiful idea that didn't quite implement it the way it should have been. On the other we have immature assholes taking advantage of that to make other people's lives miserable. Volition I can forgive. After all, they did come up with one kick-ass multiplayer game. But these cheaters! I don't believe that they are human. What a sad world this is.

Any of you game geeks out there read Frank Herbert's Dune? And don't tell me you saw the movie. That was the biggest piece of horse crap I'd ever seen. No, the books (there were six of them, if I remember correct, not counting the ones that have come out since his death, written by his son Brian and Kevin J. Anderson). Remember the Bene Gesserit? Remember the ceremony that determined if a person was a human or merely simple beast? The Gom Jabbar, poisoned needle tip, held at the throat by the Reverend Mother, poised to strike at the first sign of weakness. In this case, the subject's hand was placed inside a cylinder, which communicated with the nerve endings in the hand.

Pain was simulated. If the person removed the hand, no matter what pain was felt, the person would be considered a beast, not an actual human. The Gom Jabber removed beasts from the Bene Gesserit cadets if they failed the final test...

Now, why did they consider removing the hand to be the act of an animal? Very simple, really. A beast, caught in a painful trap, will gnaw its trapped limb off to escape the trap. Don't believe me? It's true - look it up. A human, however, would stand the pain, feign death or catatonia, and strike the trapper when the trapper shows up to claim his catch.

Are cheaters any different than hackers who violate other people's systems, and in many cases cause millions of dollars of damage? And why do these pricks do this? Is it because they are paid to perform some industrial sabotage, or perhaps even espionage covered by sabotage? If so, us sane "humans" could probably understand that a little better than what is more probably their true motivation.

No, sheer, utter insanity can be the only reason for idiots to do something like that for no reason other than to say "ha ha ha ha ha ha, look what my sorry ass can do!" I submit to you that people like this are socio-pathological low- to no-self-esteem sub-humans who would fail the test of the Gom Jabbar. They are not human.

So. "What does this have to do with cheaters?" you ask. How many times have you watched a cheater take a flag, fly up out of reach of everyone, yet still within sight, then kill himself, type "hah hah hah" and leave the game? Gee. Look what they can do. I'm soooo impressed.

Now, having said all this, realize that because of the new release the Volition put out, it is now necessary to either be, or to know, a hacker in order to cheat at this game. Ever wonder how many of those faggots (and I'm not talking cigarettes, those of you from the UK, or glowing embers in a fire, you backwoods folk who live out in the boonies anywhere else) are the same jerk-offs who write viruses? Fits, don't it?

Watch out you limp-dick, circle-jerk (but it don't work) cheating turds. I have my Gom Jabbar on my right index finger...feeling a little prickly sensation near your Jugular vein?

BTW - if anyone has any content they would like to see here, or any comments on content, send me an email. Please. I like feedback.

And now, the news...

CTF Ladder

Wow. Alot has happened since I last wrote. There are now 23 teams signed up for the CTf ladder! Woohoo! Talk about your action-packed-take-a-slap-turn-around-and-pay-it-back fun! I'm truly impressed that there are that many people out there willing to play this game and put it on the line in public!

+PLuS+ team #1 still holds the first slot in the CTF ladder, with a record of 3-0. Junkies Dope (JD) clan has just put in a bid for the top slot by challenging our #1 from the third slot. Personally, I'm looking forward to JD getting slaughtered! They took out our team #2 this past weekend and I want some payback. Team 1 is going to be hard pressed, for JD has an advantage here. I've never had a tougher time killing anyone than the folks from JD. I chalk it up to their high latency due to their overseas location and data loss. But whatever, add that to their ability to kill and they make a tough contender. We don't know when the game is going to be played - apparently JD is good at talking smack, but other than putting comments on the game, have so far failed to confirm the challenge on their end. Their choices are March 30 and 31, so we'll see...

DNR has successfully defended their second slot position against BoA. From the posts on the game site, it seems like it was a pretty close affair. Our congrats go out to our buddies at DNR - props dudes!

.fa. is going up against the BoA clan in defense of their fourth-place spot. Here's another tough match, I think. I still don't know much about .fa., and little more about BoA (although I am playing MightyMike soon in 1v1!). I'll keep you posted on their game which will be played on March 26 at 8:00 PM.

Elsewhere on the ladder, we have so many teams now that I'm almost dizzy looking at them. I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck prick up as NERV continues to get started on the ladder. We're going to keep them down, but it'll be a tough battle. DNR has also fielded a second team, which is not wasting any time in moving up as they challenge 16th place (D$K).

1 vs. 1 Ladder

What can I say? 8-0! What a guy! +J0K3R+ has exceeded even his own expectations (I'm pretty sure) at remaining undefeated for eight matches! He is my official RF hero, with his usually suave urbanity and humble pose. His latest two victims were +504+ and Rot, both very worthy contenders. Can no one take down this RF giant? His current potential nemesis is NaturlBrnKlr, who will have his head handed to him on March 21 at 8:00 pm.

Rot will be defending his second place slot from +RazorsEdge+ tonight (March 20) at 10:00. This ought to be really something. Both of these guys are brutal baddies. I feel certain that Raz is going to take Rot down, but I guarantee it will be a fight of legendary proportions.

And ForceOfone, in 4th place, will be taking on my good buddy +fn0rd+ soon, date yet to be confirmed. +fn0rd+, who is in 10th place (one slot above me - how did that happen? Oh yeah! You beat me +fn0rd+! How could you, my brother! Oh, the humanity...) is not afraid of anyone, I know from first hand experience. Good luck dude, may you destroy ForceOfOne (but not too bad - he's a pretty good dude, too).

And this ladder has grown even faster than the CTF ladder. Good god if there aren't 64 entries on the ladder now! Cool! Slaughter, blood, cannon fodder and general mayhem!
