A Phoolz' Match Issue 2

Clan rivalries can sometimes be a pain in the butt. It's particularly bad when you're really, really good and you go up against a clan that doesn't have the expertise to match your clan's. People don't want to believe that they aren't the best out there, or if they understand they're not the best, they may have a hard time believing they are so far beneath the ability of another player. Hard feelings may tend to blow out of someone's mouth as accusations of cheating. This is something that most (if not all) established clans face when playing individual to individual, as well as against clans of lesser ability. It is, therefore, particularly satisfying to hook up with a group of competitors that don't whine and cry about their losses (publicly! I'll be the first to admit that sometimes I curse the creep that's gatting me down continuously as a modder where only I can hear - but I NEVER accuse someone publicly without damning evidence...). A clan with class will swallow its pride when it's lost a match and congratulate the other team, even as the bile builds in the stomach, creating a sickening feeling that only goes away with time... +PLuS+ in particular has played a lot recently in practice skirmishes and just plain ole fun with the Honorable Killers from the -DNR- clan I thought I'd take a moment here and thank them for playing with the spirit that these games deserve - just have fun and don't really worry if you win or lose - it's the game action itself and interaction with other individuals sharing the same likes that make it fun, not just winning. |
I'd also like to give a hearty "Howdy" to the Martian Marine Corps (MMC). Although we have yet to play them in a clan-to-clan match, we have played with a number of their individuals over the last few weeks. I gotta say that I've enjoyed every game and it is, and I'm sure shall be, a pleasure to play with these dudes. I'm looking forward to a challenge from them on the GLeagues ladder sometime soon.
Just what is a cheater? Many people consider macros attached to mouse buttons as cheats (myself included), but this is tolerated because pretty much anyone can do this with just a little bit of effort. Also, the GLeague rules (unfortunately) state that macros (limited to a certain group of weapons - see the rules) are allowed. Therefore, I tolerate macros even though I think anyone that needs to resort to their use can only suck (one way or another). But true cheating can be easier or harder to spot, depending on what kind of cheat we're talking about. If you see someone flying, it's a good bet the prick (or prickette?) is cheating. Just make sure that you're not seeing someone pausing in midair due to jumping or a jump pad, and the pause is caused by lag - that happens to the best of us. Another cheat that may be easy to spot is spawning with harder-hitting weapons than the pistol or the baton. If you see someone spawn with an HGM - guess what! However, before you accuse, make sure you see it more than once and that the person is not simply spawning on a spot that had an HMG sitting right there. In my opinion, the best thing to do with cheaters is to catch them red-handed. Take a screen shot and go post it on as many sites as possible. But I'll tell you what - make damn sure you KNOW there was a cheat. Be honest (don't make up a pic because you're pissed at someone - forgeries are usually really easy to spot). The last thing you want to do is accuse someone of cheating that really knows what he or she is doing - that's a sure way to spend the rest of your RF life as that person's frag-bitch, I guarantee! |

There was a disappointing lack of action on the CTF ladders since Sunday. HEL #2 forfeited their challenge against #1 ranked +PLuS+ #1. It appears that HEL may not have been able to field enough players for a full two teams, as their team #2 is no longer registered on the ladder. The .fa. (.fatal attraction.) clan gave up another forfeit (this makes two) on their challenge to second place holder Clan CSD. Some minor problems with rankings and actual reportings appear to be going on with this ladder. A game that was reported as having been played February 22 was awarded to [JD] (Junkies Dope) over .fa. This puts [JD] in fourth place, with .fa. still in 6th as a result of their forfeit loss. -DNR- has been challenged by Turner Center Session 3 (TC3) to decide the third slot. The game is to played on March 9th at 9:00pm. This should be an interesting game. We've played -DNR- ourselves and we know them to be a class act, and a tough competitor. +PLuS+ #2 was defeated by TC3 a couple of weeks ago. These guys are real good at running the flag, but a little short on sheer brutal killing force. The name of the game is CTF, though, and that's what they're good at. +PLuS+ #2 was challenged again by TC3 over the weekend to play for the 6th spot, but they forfeited the match. Let's hope something comes out of the -DNR- vs TC3 match... At this time, there is not a whole lot of action going on. In fact, the -DNR- vs TC3 match is currently the only challenge in action. I guess it's time for yours truly to stir up some crap and shoot for a higher rung! |
The 1 v 1 ladder has been a litte more active. Bear with me - I can't update this article every day, which is what is really needed to cover everything that goes on on the ladders, but every couple of days gets the jist of the action. +J0k3r+ was challenged by +M!X3R+ since my last writing. Unfortunately, da M!X had some technical difficulties with his box and was unable to attend, suffering a forfeit loss (I had a similar problem last week - it sucks!). The two contenders continuing to trade banter, however, and a rematch will be in the works soon, I'm sure. Meanwhile, +[Px]Immortal Bob+ will get the chance to defend his number two spot and his 3-2 record against challenger -DNR- Rot on March 9 at 9:00 pm. This oughtta be a tough match - both of these guys are hard hitters and mondo-fraggers. But I must say my money's on Bob for this one. +Wolfspectre+ will be playing [NoZ]13 tonight for the third spot. Lucky number 13 currently holds the rung, but Wolfy is a cunning player. We could very well see the luckey number slip a digit here. There are now 39 players on the 1 v 1 ladder! Almost everyone is currently in a challenge or having been challenged mode at this point. There are a lot of matches coming up over the next week, so keep an eye out here for the latest updates!! |
